Dr. Jack Maynard
Interim Dean of the Scott College of Business
From the Dean
Scott College of Business
On behalf of the faculty and staff of the Scott College of Business, I want to extend sincere congratulations to the 2020 business graduates. In these challenging times, I hope you and your family are able to celebrate your amazing accomplishment. It is truly a time of joy and thanks. I ask you to reflect on the sacrifices you have made as well as the sacrifices your family and loved ones made that enabled you to be at this point in your life. You should be proud of your accomplishments. I know we are very proud to call you an alum of the Scott College of Business.
As you move past this day, I want you to pull from your Indiana State experiences and be confident that you have the knowledge and skills to tackle today’s business problems. Our faculty, staff and numerous advisory boards have worked meticulously to develop high quality business curricula programs. Preparing you for a successful career has been and continues to be one of our highest priorities.
As you begin your professional careers, don’t forget about us! We are interested in knowing how you are doing. Keep us updated on your achievements and let us know if you have an interest in working with the Scott College to assist in the development of future Sycamore business men and women.
Again, congratulations on your accomplishment. With great anticipation of your future success, we hope you will always walk proudly as Scott College alum.
Best wishes,
C. Jack Maynard, Interim Dean
Scott College of Business

Some examples from previous commencements
Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time.
"A Psalm of Life" by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow - 1838
I'm reaching out on all sides,
I'm grabbing at the truth instead of lies.
I want it said when I am gone:
I moved the world just one step on
